Everyone likes pansies as bedding plants! Significant improvements in strains have been made, and these hybrid types bloom longer and are more weather tolerant. If well established in the Fall, they will not only provide Fall color, they will winter over and be ready to give a beautiful color display for Spring and into Summer.
Pansies are best suited for sun or partial sun locations and some winter protection such as a light mulch may be advisable.
